Just like any big event, the build up to Super Bowl is sometimes more exciting that the actual game. Two weeks of preparation, nerves and media hype make the opening quarter of the big game the most electric and because this is Super Bowl, there are hundreds of ways to wager on the opening 15 minutes of action.

If you’re looking to make a quick buck betting the Super Bowl LIV props and derivative odds, here are some first-quarter teaser odds options for fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers:

First quarter spread
With the current Super Bowl LIV spread sitting around Kansas City -1, the pointspread for the first quarter of Feb. 2 contest is a mere half point in favor of the Chiefs. First quarters haven’t been kind to Kansas City in the postseason, stumbling out the blocks for 21-0 and 10-0 deficits in the Divisional and Championship Rounds. On the season, KC averages 5.4 points in the first quarter while giving up 6.2 points against in that frame.

San Francisco has looked strong out of the blocks in the postseason so far. The 49ers held a 7-0 lead over Green Bay in the NFC Championship and was tied 7-7 with Minnesota in the first 15 minutes of the Divisional Round. San Francisco puts up an average of 6.7 points per first quarter on the season – third most in the NFL – while limiting opponents to 4.1 points against in that span.

First quarter total
The Over/Under betting total for Super Bowl LIV is climbing as high as 55 points after opening as low as 53.5. That has the first-quarter Over/Under at 10 points.

As noted above, Kansas City has given up points early into their playoff games, for totals of 17 and 21 points in the opening quarter so far this postseason. However, in the team’s six-game winning streak to end the regular season, the Chiefs games never had more than 10 points score in the first quarter with five of those six matchups staying under this current Over/Under.

The 49ers have had first-quarter totals of seven and 14 in the first quarter of the playoffs. But, looking back at San Francisco’s final six games of the regular season, those first quarters either pushed or went over this 10-point total in five of those contests.

Player to score first touchdown
One of the most popular prop markets week-to-week is first touchdown scorer. This is a particularly exciting bet for Super Bowl LIV due to the surplus of offensive weapons on both teams.

The favorite to find the endzone first is Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce at +600, who had five touchdowns in the regular season and had a huge three-touchdown day against Houston in the Divisional Round. Behind him at +650 is running back Damien Williams, who is a threat to run one in or catch a touchdown pass, with four total scores in the postseason.

For the 49ers, tight end George Kittle is listed at +675, leading their first-touchdown scorer options. Kittle has yet to score in the playoffs but had five touchdowns in the regular season. Running back Raheem Mostert follows him at +800 after his four-TD game against the Packers. Mostert has had a lot of success scoring in recent games, with eight touchdowns in the final six games of the regular season.
