Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State WarriorsAt one point, the matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers, namely Stephen Curry versus Damian Lillard, was must-see television. Now things have changed with Lillard’s squad headed into a downward spiral and Curry and company becoming the league’s elite once again.

The Blazers have struggled all season long, especially on the road (1-10). Not only has Lillard struggled with some of the league’s rule changes, but Portland just hasn’t been able to put it together under new head coach Chauncey Billups. Things have gotten so bad in Portland that Lillard is lobbying for the team to make some changes, with talk of Ben Simmons being the player the superstar wants to play alongside.

As for the Warriors, Curry has his team back atop the NBA standings with an impressive record of 20-4. The sharpshooting superstar is arguably the frontrunner for MVP. At the same time, the team around him has come together unexpectedly with Jordan Poole emerging as a legitimate Sixth Man of the Year candidate, Draymond Green reinvigorated with the team back to their winning ways and Andrew Wiggins becoming a consistent threat on the floor.

Along with the Warriors becoming a juggernaut once again in the Western Conference, Steve Kerr doesn’t even have Klay Thompson back on the floor yet. Thompson is hoping to return within the next month or so, but it doesn’t even matter at this point with Golden State crushing the competition on a nightly basis.

On Wednesday, the Blazers will be in for a rude awakening unless Lillard has a performance for the ages. The Warriors should cruise to victory, with Curry likely looking to put on a show against Lillard.
