The AFC East division has been shaping out to be one of, if not, the toughest division in the NFL this season after many were banking that the Buffalo Bills were going to run away with it.
As the standings sit right now heading into Week 11, the Bills along with the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets are all tied in the loss column with 3 losses each.
The Dolphins currently sit in first at 7-3 and are just a half-game ahead of Buffalo and the Jets being that they both already had their bye week while Miami has not.
As for New England, they are sitting just one game behind the Bills and Jets at 5-4. However, they sit with the fourth toughest remaining schedule in the league that includes four divisional matchups including two with Buffalo, a matchup at Minnesota with the 8-1 Vikings, and the Cincinnati Bengals.
With such as tough schedule, they could be knocked out of the divisional race very soon.
As for where the odds currently sit, while it is clearly a three-team race, oddsmakers are not supporting that as the Bills remain well under even at -180 and Miami at 225 while the Jets and Patriots are tied with the longest odds at 1200.
Compared to where these odds first opened up, the order in the odds has not changed, but the value has been altered massively. The Bills opened in the preseason at -225 and saw their odds shift in the wrong direction after losing two straight games in Week 9 and 10.
Miami’s odds have seen a huge shift forward going from 600 at opening to the 225 odds they sit at now leaving them with some value still.
As for the Jets, many were counting them out before the season even started at 3000 odds but with big wins over both Miami and Buffalo, oddsmakers have cut their odds drastically as well seeing their divisional odds below 2000 for the first time since the 2011 season.
All in all, regardless of where each of their odds sit now and where they first opened, there is a case to be made for each of the Bills, Dolphins, and Jets. The Bills currently sit top-3 in the league both in points per game (27.8) and points allowed per game (16.8).
The Dolphins are a top-10 scoring offense in the league at 25.2 points per game and are averaging the third most total scrimmage yards each week (391.5).
The Jets have been an anchor on defense letting up just under 20 ppg to opponents each week and are tied with the fifth most takeaways (14) so far on the year.
The #Jets will be in first place in the AFC East if they beat the Patriots next week
