What to make of the PAC 12? | News Article by bestonlinesportsbooks.com

The Pac-12 Conference has been the odd man out in the college football playoff for the last few years, and this year looked to be the year that changed, until last weekend.

UCLA and Oregon were rolling and had the opportunity to play themselves into the Playoff if they were able to win out, but the Pac 12 did what the Pac 12 does; which is eating their own.

UCLA was beaten by a terrible Arizona team and Oregon didn’t even think about stopping Michael Penix Jr and the Washington Huskies en route to a loss in Seattle. So now, the lone hope for the Pac-12 rests on the shoulders of Mighty USC.

The Trojans are 10-1 with a lone loss being by 1 point at Utah in a game that they had control of, but they have shown that they are far from a dominant team. They have struggled defensively against some very mediocre competition. The offense is able to score on anyone.

USC has the luxury of playing two ranked teams to close the season before they head to the Pac-12 title game. This week the battle of LA is happening. USC is taking on UCLA on Friday night.

The Bruins are still a solid team and Chip Kelly has a capable bunch that can score with anyone they are going to have to put up numbers in bunches to keep up with Caleb Williams and the USC attack.

The Trojans will then face off against Notre Dame to end the regular season, another ranked opponent. The Irish shouldn’t have the offense to score with USC, but this game always seems to be close no matter the team’s records.

USC needs to get through these games unscathed to keep the playoff hopes alive for the Pac-12.

IF they can finish the season with 3 straight tanked opponents, there should be enough for the committee to put USC in the playoff. They have shown in the past that they are interested in getting teams with pedigree into the tournament, and USC back on the national stage will be great for college football.

Lincoln Riley is building an offensive machine in So Cal, and this could be a huge first step in bringing back that program and the PAC 12 to their heyday before USC and UCLA make their way to the BIG Ten in 2024. What a sad day that is going to be for college athletics…
